2 ounces bourbon

¼ ounce toasted marshmallow syrup (recipe below)

2 dashes bitters

Toasted marshmallow syrup:

1 cup sugar

1 cup water

8 toasted marshmallows

To make syrup:

Add sugar, water and toasted marshmallows to a small saucepan.  Simmer until sugar and marshmallows have dissolved.  Remove from heat, strain and allow to cool completely.  Spoon off any marshmallow solids.

To make drink:

Add bourbon, syrup and bitters to a glass with ice. Stir.  Strain into a glass with ice.  Garnish with toasty marshmallow and orange peel.

This drink is a nod to our Best Of issue and our camping theme.  According to Drinks International, The Old Fashioned was the best selling classic cocktail of 2019.  We’ve taken this American favorite and switched it up with marshmallow simple syrup instead of the traditional sugar cube.  Recipe adapted from VinePair.  Enjoy!  Please drink responsibly, 21+.
