Hello October!

This month is Breast Cancer Awareness month and we honor 9 local women.   These women shared their experiences with us, they were candid, kind and strong. Please read their stories, I’m sure you will be inspired.  I’d like to thank Mike Potthast and everyone at Potthast Studios for being so nice (as always) and flexible with photo shoots after Irma took out his studio’s power for a week.

October also marks our 1-year anniversary!   We are forever grateful for the support from our readers.  We couldn’t do it without you!  Thank you for reading our magazine!  Thank you for stopping by the office to talk, thank you for letting us get to know you & thank you for helping us highlight the special people here in Polk County.

As you can see from the cover, we’ve made a few changes!  Steven Maynard, our new graphic designer, has spent countless hours developing a new layout and designing a new website. We’ve also spread our wings a bit and launched Haven Lakeland this month. Next time you’re over there, pick us up!  I’d like to thank Lasater Flowers in Winter Haven for bending over backwards to get the flowers for our Lakeland cover.  Irma was approaching and shipments of flowers had stopped.  But they did it, and they’re beautiful.  You can see both editions online at our new and improved website.

We hope you enjoy!  See you around town
