Resident, John Straughn has been dropping by our office every month for about a year now.  He has been advocating for an issue dedicated to autism awareness.  Little did he know, that it wouldn’t take much convincing.   I was more than happy to dedicate an issue on this topic.  I’d like to thank the Freeland Family, Swingle Family, Rayburn Family and the Rucki-Stanley Family for sharing their lives with me.  I’ve learned so much, and I’m sure these families will inspire you, too.  They were  very open and honest, I appreciate the courage to let their lives be public.

We also learn about Rockin’ on the River, a major fundraiser for autism.  Meet Lisa Miller, mother of a child on the autism spectrum and running for school board to fight for the rights of students with disabilities.

We will visit Cornerstone Grill, a farm-to-table restaurant in Lake Alfred.  Travel to Armature Works in Tampa for good food and shopping.  And read about Winner Haven Apparel’s adventures on a new pontoon boat!  It will leave you with a smile on your face.

And that’s not all!  We have a full calendar, Top Ten lists to keep you busy and local news briefs to keep you informed.

Support your local businesses & I’ll see you around town!

Amy Sexson

This issue is dedicated to Josh.
