cutthroat cooking.jpg

HAVE A CUTTHROAT COOKING COMPETITION

The grocery stores are empty, you’ve got some stuff at home but it’s questionable.   Make quarantine fun by choosing 3 ingredients and letting 2 people come up with recipes using the same ingredients.  They battle each other to make the best dish and the other family members must choose.   You can throw in some curveballs like adding a 4th ingredient halfway through the competition or taking away a utensil. (The family has to eat it, so be nice.)

create something.jpg

CREATE SOMETHING

Learn to knit, macrame or crochet on YouTube.  Purchase a DIY embroidery kit on Etsy made locally by Pin + Needle.  (Etsy at thepinandneedle) Build the biggest LEGO structure ever.  Finish the scrapbook you literally started 19 years ago.  Paint something & give it to someone when it’s safe to leave the house.  Let the kids take photos or paint pictures that can be framed for gifts.

create a movie theater.jpg

CREATE A MOVIE THEATER

Create a concession stand (clear off part of a counter or have the kids build one with boxes) and arrange popcorn in individual containers, candies or snacks in little bags.  Give the kids a “credit card” to buy the movie ticket (have them make them ahead of time) and choose their own snacks.  Designate special seating, turn the lights out and let the movie begin.

exercise.jpg

EXERCISE-GO OUTSIDE

If you have little kids around, create an obstacle course for them to race through.  Walk the dog, give the dog a bath, swim in your pool, garden or take a walk around your neighborhood.  If it’s too hot outside, build a blanket fort in your home and go “camping” complete with a faux fire, sleeping bags, flashlights and a sleepover.
