Art Crawl, is hitting Munn Park in downtown Lakeland again for its sixth annual art festival celebrating the emergence of new and innovative artists in Central Florida! This one-day event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, November 3rd. Family friendly and admission is free.
The juried art festival is an accessible venue for art collection, entertainment, and fun. This year’s festival will feature more than 55 local fine art artists, art demonstrations and a full lineup of performances coordinated by Fredi Dance Project and With Love Productions. Food trucks will be onsite to kick that hunger, and local arts organizations, colleges, and partners will be onsite with hands-on art activities and happenings for all ages. Additionally, Blick Art Materials will be onsite hosting demos and giveaways, and Ink Screen Printing will be printing FREE t-shirts for first 200 attendees.
From its inception, Art Crawl has taken on the challenge to create a platform to aid new artists desiring professional traction in the area – specifically those venturing in contemporary media and content. This year, Art Crawl continues to extend its reach in the art community. A new partnership with Arts Ensemble Downtown will bring bimonthly professional development workshops for contemporary artists to Winter Haven and Lakeland. This partnership will provide new exhibition opportunities for Art Crawl artists and opportunities to cultivate artist growth locally. And VOLUME, a contemporary artists collective in Lakeland, is helping to grow artist interest and involvement in Art Crawl.
One of the artists, Leif Langford, has been designing this year’s Art Crawl octopus that will adorn the event posters and this years free t-shirts. As an form of outreach and art education, this group is also hosting an interactive tent at the festival focused on the exquisite corpse method – a method originally developed by surrealist which a collection of words or images is collectively assembled.
Additionally, onlookers and artists will notice a difference in this year’s award ribbons. The leather artists at Boondock Studios are donating time, material and talent to create the award “ribbons” for this year’s art show winners as support for fellow artists and their journey.
Together, Art Crawl believes we can make a difference in the community at large…building relationships to bring about awareness, support, and collaboration for the arts.
