Hello!  This month’s issue is so special and we’re excited to share it with everyone.  We have once again partnered with Polk State College to celebrate the graduating class of 2021.  Inside, you’ll find every graduate’s name.  Congratulations to all of them! If you are a graduate listed in this issue, we are sending a copy your way! We celebrate you!!

Our feature story is about a hip hop music producer in Lakeland that met up with the executive director of the Lake Wales Arts Council and made some big plans together.  They are working on a project to bring hip hop music into the public schools, and they will be some of the first people in Florida to do it.  Find out more about their mission and how you can be a part of it.

We visit Bonnet Springs Park to see their progress and what’s still to come.  We also get a sneak peek at LoveBird Almost Famous Chicken.  Find out who’s behind the hot chicken restaurant in Lakeland and what their inspiration was.  The library has given us their selections for the perfect “beach reads” so you can have the perfect book by the pool this summer. Because Memorial Day is the start of summer fun, our monthly cocktail is a popsicle.  Cool off with a Tequila Sunrise, frozen!

Keep tagging your Instagram & Facebook posts with #kindachill in east Polk and #lkldhaven in Lakeland and you just might find it printed in the next issue!

Have a very Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mamas, grandmas, and strong women in our lives!!  I hope you all have a beautiful day and know that you are loved.

Have a great May everyone and I hope to see you around town,

Amy Sexson
