MEN ON BOATS 

Through Feb. 9 at the Mad Cow Theatre Co. Ten explorers. Four boats. One Grand Canyon. Men on Boats is a true-ish retelling of the 1869 Powell expedition, when one-armed Captain John Wesley Powell and a crew of insane yet loyal volunteers set out to chart the course of the Colorado River.

ORLANDO STORY CLUB:  PAST OUR BEDTIME 

Feb. 5, 7pm at The Abbey.  Anyone with a story can put their name in the hat for a chance to share a 5 minute story. 10 names will be drawn at random. 3 randomly selected judges from the audience will score the storytellers. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners receive a prize!  All proceeds support Hemophilia Foundation of Greater Florida Admission: $5 (additional donations encouraged) orlandostoryclub.com

CITY ART JAM - JERSEY EDITION 

Feb. 7, 6pm at Ace Cafe Orlando.   This is a free event -  part of its annual Kickoff to Soccer events, Orlando City is celebrating its new 2020 Heart & Sol jersey design during a live speed painting competition, co-hosted by No Borders Art Competition.  Local artists will battle the clock to turn blank canvases into beautiful pieces of original artwork.  This event will be fans’ first opportunity to get the new jersey.  orlandocitysc.com/

Feb. 8, 8:30am-noon at the Town Hall in Windermere. Join  a group of volunteers dedicated to building, assembling and delivering top-notch bunk beds to children and families in need.  Because all children deserve a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads. QUACK ATTACK ON POVERTY 

Feb. 15, 7:30am at Harbor Park at Lake Baldwin.  A professionally-timed race for runners, joggers and walkers of all ages and abilities. This unique event requires participants to wear an inflatable duck-shaped pool float through a 3.1 mile course featuring bubble, squirt gun and quack zones. The goal of this community-based event is to raise funds and awareness for the nonprofit United Against Poverty Orlando. quackattack.org

INDIE-FOLKFEST 

Feb. 15, noon at the Mennello Museum of American Art.  This outdoor event in the museum’s sculpture garden is a family and pet-friendly festival that celebrates community, gathering for the arts, food, and local artists.
